History:

Harrison Senior Living was founded by James P. and Katherine S. Harrison, R.N. in 1967 when they purchased a 17.5 acre farm, in Christiana, PA.  The company constructed a skilled nursing facility on this site and opened in July 1972. The facility’s first resident was, James P. Harrison, Sr., the father of the company’s founder.

Keeping with family-oriented services, the company built a facility in Snow Hill, Maryland, which opened in May, 1977. This farming community was home to the co-founder, Mrs. Katherine Harrison.

Having established a solid reputation as providers of senior care, the Harrison’s were approached in April, 1983 by the Board for The John B. Parsons-Salisbury Home for the Aged. They agreed to lease the property for five years with intent to purchase. They purchased the stately mansion in January, 1989 and have continued to provide services to seniors of the Salisbury, Maryland community under the name of The John B. Parsons Assisted Living Community.

In August, 1983, the Harrison family purchased the former Coatesville Hospital property, located in Chester County, PA. For the next twelve months, the 16 acre site was razed, renovated and landscaped. The former hospital was converted to a campus that provides Assisted Living and Independent Senior Apartments which opened in August, 1984.

As premiere providers of senior care, the Harrisons were once again approached by a community organization.  In 1982 the council for the Town of Georgetown invited the Harrisons to a meeting to discuss the need for senior care in their area. They designed and built Harrison Senior Living of Georgetown which opened May, 1985.

The Harrison family continues to operate these communities today with the same values and commitment to service excellence.
