Speech-Language Therapy

Speech-Language therapists aid people in recovering speech, language and swallowing functions as well as memory by helping address problems with communication and swallowing dysfunction. Treatment plans are designed to focus on each person’s needs, such as:

  • Verbal and non-verbal communication, including the use of augmentative systems when necessary
  • Oral muscle strength and functioning for speaking and swallowing
  • Swallowing skills and techniques within an individual’s limitations:
    • Compensate for word-finding problems
    • Learn listening strategies
    • Overcome swallowing disorders
  • Appropriate diet recommendations
